An excellent opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic individual to join Melbourne Airport in the role of Communications Officer on permanent full-time basis

The Communications Officer role is key to the success of daily operations at Melbourne Airport. The major challenge for this role is to ensure accurate, timely and appropriate communication to a wide range of customers and stakeholders is achieved. The role will also ensure the safe and efficient operations of the airport through the effective implementation of operational policies and procedures.

With the aviation and travel sector booming in 2023, on top of major projects that will underpin the future growth and development of Melbourne Airport and Victoria as a whole, now is a very exciting time to join

Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide a 24-hour communications, co-ordination and monitoring point for external and internal operations within the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC)
  • Assist the Managers within the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) on other matters, including emergencies and operational events
  • Coordinate airport communications, in a timely manner for operational information gathering, sharing and education
  • Manage and maintain Airport Co-ordination Systems including - Maximo (Fault Reporting), Access Control, CCTV System, SMS
  • Ensure accurate and timely provision of information across the Airport
  • Maintain all Terminal Operations Contacts lists
  • Support the Airport Co-ordination Centre Supervisor in the maintenance of all ACC systems
  • Deputise and provide relief coverage for the Airport Co-ordination Centre Supervisor
  • Support the Airport Co-ordination Centre Supervisor and Airport Manager in all emergencies, operational and customer events.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of Airport Specific Systems
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in managing simultaneous workstreams
  • Experience working in a high paced, high resilience environment
  • Knowledge of aviation operating environments
