Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Kaluza Full time

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Closing Date for Applications: Friday 24th April 2024

Kaluza aims to pave the way for a world where achieving net-zero is feasible for everyone, by developing a platform that will expedite a sustainable, cost-effective, and resilient energy transition. Solving challenging problems like these can be incredibly rewarding.

Since its inception in 2019, Kaluza's technology has been empowering major energy suppliers to enhance their services to millions of customers.

From modernizing billing processes to intelligent electric vehicle charging, our real-time cloud platforms revolutionize supplier operations, cutting down service costs and enhancing engagement. Crucially, they empower suppliers' customers to contribute to decarbonization through smart, low carbon technologies.

Kaluza is currently in an exciting phase of expansion, venturing into Melbourne to strengthen our position as a globally distributed energy platform.

This means that by joining us, you would be among the pioneering Kaluza employees in Australia, directly collaborating with our clients in the region.

We are in the initial stages of team building. Hence, physical presence in our office is significant to us - working closely with our clients to establish a robust working relationship. Currently, our team operates from our office in Melbourne CBD (Spencer St) 2-3 days a week.

Our objective is to develop a self-reliant and empowered team in Australia. While we are progressing well, we still rely on our UK team. Therefore, being adaptable to work flexibly to cover time zone differences is necessary.

What will my role at Kaluza involve?

Kaluza's Programme Managers are pivotal in Client Delivery. They play a crucial role in delivering maximum value to our clients by managing our major implementation programs and ongoing professional services projects. In this position, you will coordinate tasks across multiple entities, possess strong empathy skills, commercial acumen, and excellent organizational abilities. Drawing on years of client interaction experience, you will lead the delivery of complex projects that contribute to transformation through technology.

You will be supporting initiatives related to Kaluza's Energy Retail platform and Flexibility platform.

The Energy Retail platform is a Software as a Service (SaaS) technology platform designed to revolutionize energy retailers' operating systems globally. It is constructed with scalability and technical excellence in mind and serves as the cornerstone for Kaluza's customers' decarbonization efforts.

Our Flexibility platform acts as the central nervous system connecting energy retailers, grid operators, and consumers. This platform facilitates the establishment of a distributed, consumer-focused, dynamic energy system for the future. By bridging the gap between renewable energy generation and smart devices, it enables consumers to adjust their energy consumption to peak renewable energy periods. This not only saves costs for consumers but also aids society in transitioning towards decarbonizing transportation and residential heating/cooling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end project management within the portfolio.
  • Implementation and enhancement of governance frameworks for effective change delivery.
  • Collaborating with the team to define and understand all necessary roles and responsibilities (e.g. RACI model).
  • Owning the delivery plan and identifying required activities from contributing teams.
  • Ensuring all stakeholders are informed about progress, risks, obstacles, and maintaining focus on objectives.
  • Establishing ownership for all activities in the plan and defining a documented 'definition of done'.
  • Providing regular updates on progress to the business.
  • Identifying and resolving obstacles through facilitation to ensure timely value delivery.
  • Managing dependencies between Kaluza, clients, and partners.

Kaluza is currently experiencing a remarkable growth phase, expanding internationally to strengthen our position as a globally distributed energy platform. By joining us, you would be among the pioneering Kaluza employees in Australia.

Am I a suitable candidate for this role?

Ideally, you should possess the following skills:

  • Proven expertise in program management - adept at structuring, executing, and finalizing significant strategic change initiatives.
  • Critical thinking and analysis skills - Understanding stakeholder and client requirements within the platform's strategic context, proposing alternative solutions or delivery timelines that meet their needs while preventing completely customized features.
  • Effective communication - Capable of condensing vast amounts of information for stakeholders and teams to facilitate quick comprehension and decision-making.
  • Problem-solving - Approach obstacles from various perspectives to devise solutions.
  • Team mobilization - Quickly assemble individuals around a common goal and provide clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Rapid comprehension - Swiftly grasp complexity and make informed decisions with autonomy and decisiveness.
  • Proactive attitude - Recognize priorities, act upon them, and communicate progress without prompting.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Extensive experience in delivering change across multiple teams, whether as a project, product, or program manager.
  • Engagement in the implementation of complex B2B software.
  • Comfortable operating at task detail level within the team, as well as providing summaries at an executive level with crucial information.
  • Proven track record of delivering diverse initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and maintain a highly agile mindset to ensure timely value delivery.
  • Background in the energy or utility sector is advantageous, although not mandatory.

Kaluza's Values

At Kaluza, we adhere to five core values that serve as our guiding principles:

We're on a mission, We build together, We're inclusive, We get it done, We communicate with purpose.

Our values are not just mere words displayed on a wall — they are the essence of our culture. They shape our decision-making processes and govern how we interact with one another. These values are tangible and transparent, reflecting our genuine concerns as individuals and as a company.

Kaluza's vision is to enable a world where net-zero is achievable for all. Are you interested in joining us to contribute towards this goal?

What will you receive from us?

As we are establishing our presence in Australia for the first time, we will be enhancing our complete benefits package in the upcoming months. Currently, starting from day one, you will receive:

  • Modern leave policies - including dedicated leave for significant life events
  • Annual discretionary bonus
  • Allocated budgets for personal development and home office setup
  • Flexible work arrangements — we believe in empowering you to work in a manner that aligns with your lifestyle
  • 26 days of annual leave
  • Participation in the Kaluza Share Scheme

We plan to expand our benefits and progressive policies to ensure that your Total Reward package is competitive and that you are well taken care of.

We seek top talent

We are eager to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds — our belief is that the more inclusive we are, the higher the quality of our work. We aspire to form teams that encompass a range of experiences, viewpoints, and skills, recognizing talent based on capabilities and potential.

We understand that some individuals may refrain from applying for roles unless they meet every criterion. However, if you are enthusiastic about joining us and believe you align with some of our requirements, even if not entirely, we would love to hear from you.
