About The Role


Our Exploration and Geology department has an opening for a Perth or Adelaide based Resource Geology Lead focussed on delivering geological leadership and operational support in the development of mineral sands and rare earths projects.

This leadership role will be accountable for the group wide geological services team, accountable for delivering geological resource models, Resource and Reserve reporting, geological databases, GIS management and leading the assessment and delivery of exploration and geology innovations to drive improved outcomes.


As the Lead you will maintain standards for all aspects of Resource development and reporting group wide as well as provide mentoring and auditing function for Geological Services across the group.

This is a hands-on role with an expectation that the applicant will deliver on technical work packages in addition to managing team deliverables.


The role may fulfil the role of Competent Person within Iluka with respect to publicly made Resource Statements in accordance with the JORC 2012 code and ASX listing rulings.


Key responsibilities:

  • Allocate and prioritise work schedules in conjunction with other Domain Managers.
  • Responsible for audits of all Development Geology outputs, for the Iluka Group.
  • Responsible and/or provide support for Resource and Reserve reconciliations.
  • Liaison and handover of models with Exploration and Mining Operations to ensure maximum integrity, optimisation and communication of resource and reserves.
  • Liaison with and supervision of consultants, contractors and other external parties in relation to resources and reserves.
  • Mentor and develop technical skills of staff, maintain and improve geological standards.
  • Management of Group Tenement, geological database and GIS functions.
  • The training and development of staff and creating a culture of high performance within the geological services function.
  • Work with Geology, Projects, Planning and Operations in the handover of resource models and information contained within those models.


About You- Degree in Geology or an associated geoscience discipline.- Able to be Considered a Competent Person under the JORC 2012 Code, which includes membership to either AUSIMM or AIG.- Very experienced in the field of development geology and compilation of at least five years of resource estimates across at least two different mineral commodities- Have strong communication and influencing skills to ensure that development geology standards are met and that external communications made by Iluka conform to JORC 2012 and ASX listing rulings.- Demonstrated capability in the development and leadership of technical teams.
