CareSouth is a non-profit organization providing services in Early Intervention, Foster Care, Clinical Services, Homelessness, and a range of NDIS Disability Services.

Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) is a key aspect of the Permanency Support Program, striving to provide specialized and intensive support to children and young individuals with high and complex needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Therapeutic Specialist serves as a clinical expert within our Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) services. They play a crucial role in ensuring that therapeutic care is offered at all stages, including case plans, care team meeting facilitation, assessment, formulation, and service coordination.

The Therapeutic Specialist collaborates with case workers, Central Access Unit, and DCJ to ensure decisions align with the principles of permanency planning and trauma-informed care.

The ITC system encompasses:

  • Provide Therapeutic Care
  • Focus on trauma recovery
  • Offer alternatives to long-term residential care
  • Enhance child safety
  • Create pathways to less intensive services and permanency

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL NEED

  • Demonstrate commitment to the safety of children, young individuals, and individuals with disabilities.
  • Degree qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing.
  • An in-depth understanding of trauma, abuse, and neglect impact on child development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capacity to persevere in achieving positive outcomes with individuals who have experienced trauma.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Experience in conducting assessments for children and utilizing findings to create comprehensive care plans.
  • Understanding of working respectfully with diverse clients.
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation module.
  • Current registration with AHPRA or eligibility for state registration.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
