About the role

We have a thrilling opportunity for a Business Process and Risk Manager to oversee operational excellence and business process management for the Energy Solutions division in Australia and New Zealand. The Energy Solutions business at Ampol has implemented frameworks for operational excellence and business processes to facilitate its activities. These frameworks adhere to broader Ampol process and governance standards while ensuring that the business structure is delivering safe and scalable operations. This function remains pivotal to the Energy Solutions division's progression, success, and the delivery of outstanding outcomes for our customers. Efficient operation delivery is crucial for the new Energy Solutions division, securing its success and ensuring exceptional outcomes for our clientele. This role is instrumental in our upcoming years in the Energy sector.

Key responsibilities

  • Steward the business process architecture for Energy Solutions and ensure alignment with the operational model as the business evolves, under the direction of business leadership.
  • Manage business process governance across key areas, evaluate maturity levels, and uphold an effective governance framework.
  • Drive regular interactions to guarantee a smooth flow of information and decision-making during business developments to implement process designs that yield business results.
  • Ensure resource allocation for the Business Process Management Office and lead the implementation across Knowledge Management, Execution, and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Execute the business process build plan to support Energy Solutions in scaling operations and maintain a clear understanding of process connections within the business.
  • Lead process enhancement initiatives utilizing continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Supervise enterprise risk assessments within Energy Solutions in alignment with the Ampol Risk Management Framework (ARMF) and facilitate the preparation of relevant Board documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Ampol's Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) within Energy Solutions, including documenting unit-specific processes and standards.
  • Lead the Energy Solutions Emergency Management Team (EMT) in the capacity of Champion.

About you

We seek individuals with a mindset geared towards 'continuous improvement' and a focus on processes. You should be adept at managing ambiguity, complexity, and uncertainty, employing structured problem-solving techniques as we enhance our capabilities in the energy sector. This role is open to candidates with full working rights, preferably based in Sydney, NSW, with Brisbane, QLD, or Melbourne, VIC also being considered, provided there is a willingness to travel and attend various client visits and conferences across the region and NZ.

Key skills and experience

  • Essential: Tertiary qualification in project management, business management, accounting, engineering, or related field, or equivalent demonstrated knowledge.
  • Experience in leading business process developments across systems and personnel, emphasizing efficient, streamlined, and technology-driven operations, in commercial or consulting capacities.
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop, and implement intricate systems and business processes in a dynamic environment with a focus on Change Management perspectives/tools.
  • Demonstrates business acumen when evaluating business structures and applying sound financial knowledge.
  • Understanding of technology-enabled solutions to deliver optimal business structures in terms of efficiency and optimization.
  • Leadership abilities in propelling and achieving outcomes, including driving effective change.
  • Effective in building relationships, networking, and negotiating with stakeholders.
  • Exceptional presentation, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with senior executives and stakeholders.
