Your impact

Jacobs Energy & Power Substation team are experts in the Asia Pacific region having engineered some of the industry's largest and most complex network augmentation and renewable connection projects.

This team forms part of the broader Transmission and Distribution unit within the APAC Energy & Power group.

This group works alongside our global Jacobs counterparts offering complete solutions in the energy and power industry including Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy, Transition Energy, Geothermal Energy, New Energy & Advisory, and Project Solutions.

The Group benefits from a broad range of local and international client relationships, long standing industry partnerships and an impressive management team, passionate about Jacobs unique offering to the market.

Here's what you'll need

The role of Technical Director, Substations is an essential component of a growth strategy to position Jacobs at the forefront of the market offering the opportunity to deliver innovative solutions to our clients and shape the technical direction of the Substations offering.

The Technical Director works alongside our local operational management and engage with our global network of technical people to bring the best of Jacobs on our project portfolio.

We're looking for a passionate individual who will embody our culture and customer focus with an innovative mindset to cultivate solutions whilst supporting the development and deployment of new technologies.

We are truly flexible and open to candidates working from any Jacobs APAC/ANZ location.

  • Proactively assure the quality of technical outputs through the appointment of suitably qualified technical experts and their assignment to tenders and projects.
  • Develop and maintain the framework of Technical Leaders required to suit the evolving needs of the discipline.
  • Advance and implement priorities and goals to underpin the success of the technical practice, harnessing the benefits of diversity and inclusion through visible inclusive management, effective succession planning, exploring recruitment and retention strategies and providing mentoring.
  • Effectively shape the vision of the technical practice based on future-focused insights, thought leadership and Jacobs' goals.
  • Offer technical expertise in Sales and proactively participate in Client engagement and business development opportunities.
  • Oversee technical assessments on a variety of difficult national and international projects and provide quality assurance of technical outputs.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate technical risk exposure to the business, by ensuring adequate controls are identified and applied to technical risks in both Sales and Project Delivery.
  • Support the Market Solutions business model by partnering with Growth and Sales to achieve differentiated market growth by combining deep domain expertise with client business building activities.
