Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Australian Electoral Commission Full time

Agency Purpose

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The AEC's values and commitments
The AEC values and commitments are an essential component of our operating environment and frame how AEC staff work. The AEC's focus is on electoral integrity through the values of quality, agility and professionalism.

The Team

As a rehabilitation case manager, you will join and support a dynamic and high performing National team to facilitate timely responses to AEC employees and stakeholders on all Wellbeing matters and cases.

You will facilitate timely and sustainable return to work programs for injured/ill AEC employees and be responsible for managing a case load and achieving satisfactory outcomes for both the employee and the AEC in line with the agency's Rehabilitation Management System (RMS).

Under the RMS you will appoint rehabilitation providers, consult with medical professionals and liaise with Comcare.

Additionally, as a rehabilitation case manager you will handle general administrative duties and accurate record keeping.

You will be required to provide advice and guidance to staff and management on wellbeing matters, the return-to-work process and the agency's Respect at Work provisions.

You will be responsible for managing cases, inbox enquires, and contribute to the development of RMS/WHS procedures, guidelines and policies.

The Opportunity

The AEC is looking for rehabilitation case managers who have sound communication skills, can effectively manage multiple stakeholder relationships, and deliver quality results within determined timeframes.

You have initiative, strong attention to detail, the ability to be analytical and contribute to business improvement processes in a geographically diverse agency.

During an electoral event, you will need to be responsive and show professional resilience and personal drive to deal with an increase in demand and work volume.

You will have the opportunity to undertake complex and sensitive work and use discretion and sound judgement when providing advice and handling information.

You are encouraged to utilise your skills and experience to deliver high quality services to all our stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity that will allow you to contribute to the wellbeing of our staff and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the AEC's Rehabilitation Management System.

To excel you'll have:

  • A strong client focus, exercising sound judgement and a commitment to providing effective services and professional advice to clients, governed by legislation, regulations, best practice principles or relevant operating instructions and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes under the AEC rehabilitation management framework, including early intervention and facilitating timely return to work outcomes for employees.
  • Proven ability to accurately complete all necessary documentation and tasks to facilitate early intervention, rehabilitation and compensation processes within legislated timeframes.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity and a willingness to work within a high performing team under limited guidance.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and respectfully with internal and external stakeholders, through the use of excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • The willingness and capability to undertake further rehabilitation and compensation training, including completing a Certificate IV in Injury Management.
  • Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of Australian Electoral Law and practice, and of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011
