Where would you fit?

x15's mission is underpinned by our Core Platform - an operating environment where empowered people and modern technology can collectively enable start-up pace, enterprise safety, and scale through integrations with CommBank. It currently fuels our ventures throughout their lifecycle, but this platform is only at its infancy - the journey ahead is new, ambitious, and exciting.

To help map out this journey, we have recently created a Strategy and Operations team under x15's Chief Product Officer. This team will ensure our overall strategy is being effectively determined, communicated, and delivered into real outcomes for our ventures.

This means we do a bit of everything (thinking, doing, challenging, structuring, and communicating) in service of, and on behalf of, the various functions and ventures within x15.

You would be the newest member of this small team and be integral to its success. This role is ideal for someone who wants to see how corporate venturing inside one of the largest companies in Australia works and is keen to leverage their project management and strategic thinking experience in their next opportunity.

This role reports to the Core Strategy and Operations Lead.

Your impact and contribution

As the title suggests, you'll spend most of your time helping x15's support functions managing significant strategic and complex projects. As a result, you'll find yourself wearing a few different hats throughout the day, and on a steep learning curve (but that's part of the fun).

In doing so, you will drive the implementation of x15's Core Platform vision and roadmap, help to strategically prioritise initiatives across the business, and develop a deep understanding of how modern and emerging technologies can bring start-up to corporate.

Your team also sets and communicates x15's overall strategy, and so you will often be involved in its development. You'll be put in front of senior leaders across x15 and CommBank, to learn about, challenge, and influence their thinking. By doing so, you will be able to bring together our specialist teams to build a consistent and cohesive narrative on why our Core Platform unlocks value, and then go about unlocking that value.

Your responsibilities

  • Take an active role in developing, articulating, and putting into practice x15's strategy, including supporting the preparation of executive papers and other materials.
  • Apply your knowledge of the x15 strategy (you helped design it, after all) to manage our quarterly prioritisation process, ensuring we effectively manage competing interests.
  • Help structure and drive the overall roadmap for x15's Core products and services - and develop a strong working relationship with our product, portfolio, technology, risk, and venture teams.
  • Lead specific strategic initiatives that cut across specialist teams.
Your skills and experience

This role demands someone with:
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong communication - can apply structure to complex and ambiguous topics.
  • Effective writing and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to constructively challenge ideas and the status quo.
  • Ability to build and foster relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Curiosity about new things and a hunger for taking accountability for finding solutions to challenging, ambiguous problems.
We'd also love it if you have:
  • Understanding of (and interest in) modern and emerging technologies.
  • Start-up or scale-up experience, with an understanding of their common problems.
