Our Transition

EnergyAustralia is actively transitioning its portfolio – we are doing not just talking. In the last year we have made substantial investment commitments across utility storage (lithium ion and pumped hydro) and flexible gas/hydrogen generation, all of which will support a high renewables grid.

About the Role

Based at the Tallawarra B power station is on the traditional Country of the Dharawal peoples, it is located on the shores of Lake Illawarra. With its fast-start flexible capacity, the Tallawarra B project will play a vital role in maintaining system security, complementing renewables coming into the system, and providing reliable power to customers in New South Wales.

The role's principal focus is ensuring that environmental issues associated with the construction of the Tallawarra B power station are systematically managed to best practice standards.

  • Lead all aspects of responses to environmental issues and events to ensure that the risk of environmental non-compliance is eliminated or minimised.
  • Undertake audit activities to provide assurance that construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved construction environmental management plan.
  • Manage activities to achieve compliance with Environmental Licences and other related statutory requirements.
  • Provide specialist advice and training to Leadership, site employees and contractors on environmental issues relevant to the project

About you

The role will see you demonstrate extensive knowledge of relevant Acts, Legislations, Australian standards, codes of practice and general industry practices in environmental areas to a large scale of contraction projects.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications at minimum Degree Level in Science, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline and/or equivalent qualifications and/or experience
  • Experience working in a similar role within a Power Station, Industrial, Mining or Construction environment
  • Contractor Management Process during Major Projects, Outages etc.
  • Liaised and negotiated with internal and external regulatory authorities
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders, such as local residents, government officials, regulatory and licencing authorities.
  • Substantial experience in a major construction environment or heavy industry
  • Sound leadership and managerial skills with proven ability to make and implement sound decisions.
