Marymount is a co-educational Catholic primary school which caters for over 1000 students and is located on the southern end of the Gold Coast.

We are a predominantly 6-stream school which has an inclusive education policy and is situated on the same campus as Marymount College.

The position holder is expected to have a professional working relationships with teaching and non-teaching staff and whole school community, exercising discretion and respect for confidentiality.


It is essential that the role holder:

  • Deeply understands the core values and ethos of catholic schooling across the breadth of College life and be faithful to the implication of that at all times when dealing with people.
  • Has the ability to remain calm and in control whilst working in a very busy work environment with many interruptions.
  • Can manage difficult situations of potential conflict with discretion and sensitivity, whilst initiating resolution and redirection, working towards an appropriate solution.
  • Be able to prioritise their workload effectively whist working on multiple projects to deliver key outcomes in a timely manner.

Attributes

The Finance Officer is required to demonstrate competency in a variety of financial and administrative tasks to support the financial operations of the school.

The position holder will provide key support to ensure accurate financial records are produced within the required time constraints.

Duties
Under the broad direction of the Principal, duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Full function accounts payable (as a backup)
  • Bank and credit card reconciliation including cashier & banking duties
  • End of month and end of year processing and reporting (shared with Finance Officer
  • Payables role)
  • Maintenance of fixed asset register
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to resolve finance related issues
  • Budget assistance
  • Other adhoc administrative functions as required by the Principal and the school's leadership team
  • Backup assistance during peak times or for staff absences to the reception area

The role holder will contribute to the efficient management of the School by providing administrative support in the following areas:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to think analytically and problemsolve
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • High regard for confidentiality, reliability and integrity
  • Proficiency in using MS Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook and SharePoint
  • Experience using D365 accounting system (desirable)

Academic Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications at a Diploma level or equivalent qualifications relevant to the position may be required by the employer or knowledge, qualifications and experience that are determined by the employer as necessary to successfully carry out the duties of the position.


Other Requirements/Conditions

In accordance with the latest EB Agreement:

  • Working with Children Blue Card
  • MANDATORY
  • Full First Aid Certificate preferable
To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
- be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
- have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
