The Opal Australian Paper Division is the home of Reflex and is a leading employer in the beautiful Latrobe Valley.

With over 850 team members on site, the Maryvale Paper Mill is the largest manufacturing plant in the Opal portfolio.


The Major Shutdown Scheduler is accountable for the scheduling and coordination of shutdowns (major & minor) across the Maryvale Mill site.


You will be responsible for mentoring & leading the Shutdown Schedulers to ensure that the schedules for their plant area can be integrated with other shutdown schedules to produce site-wide shutdown schedules.

You will contribute to the success of Opal in the following ways:

  • The Senior Shutdown Scheduler is accountable for the scheduling and coordination of shutdowns (major & minor) across the Maryvale Mill site.
  • Mentoring & leading the Shutdown Schedulers to track progress of the complete lifecycle of a Shutdown (including planning, preparation, & execution).
  • The Senior Shutdown Scheduler is responsible for the development of systems & processes for the tracking of project management activities of the shutdown.
  • The Senior Shutdown Scheduler is accountable for the tracking, monitoring, and progress reporting of the shutdown programme for the Maryvale Mill Site.
  • Manage all quality and cost components of the shutdown programs across the Maryvale Paper Mill site.

Specifically for this role you will have;

  • Minimum of 10+ years of Maintenance or Project Management experience.
  • Shutdown scheduling experience of at least 10 years.
  • Trade or Engineering Degree qualifies.
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Engineering, Maintenance, Business, Commerce, or related field would be highly regarded.
  • Previous team leadership or Management experience highly regarded.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
