This role will is part of RØDE's New Product Group.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilize CAD software to create precise technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams based on product design concepts.
  • Collaborate closely with product designers and engineers to understand design requirements and ensure feasibility.
  • To understand and calculate stackup analysis of systems and subsystems generating appropriate tolerances.
  • Utilize probability and statistics to analyse data and make informed decisions during the design process.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and revisions of drafts to incorporate feedback and maintain accuracy.
  • To execute minor 3D CAD model updates.
  • Maintain organized documentation of design iterations, revisions, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control (QC) and metrology teams to ensure that designs meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Support Cross-Functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept to production.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, tools, and trends in product design and drafting.

You will require the following qualifications and/or skills and experience to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree, TAFE or equivalent in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or related field.
  • Extensive experience as a draftsperson, preferably in product design or a related field.
  • Good written skills and capable of writing technical reports.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, OnShape, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Quality Control (QC) processes and metrology techniques.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous design drafts, projects, or relevant work samples is desirable.
  • Experience with BOM and PDM management.
  • Experience with metrology tools and measurement systems and techniques.
  • Experience with creating technical documentation including Inspection Reports.
