About the role


The Quality & Patient Safety Manger is responsible for all Quality and Safety activities at Balmain Hospital including accreditation preparation, clinical investigations, policy framework, patient experience and complaints management.

Work collaboratively as part of a dynamic executive team in delivering an effective service, supporting managers and staff across clinical and clinical support teams to ensure the principles of governance are at the heart of service provision.


Facilitation, leadership and support to management teams, multidisciplinary clinical teams and lead clinicians in delivering improved patient care, and to undertake quality monitoring and improvement initiatives including clinical risk management, clinical audit and clinical improvement initiatives.


Participate in clinical governance processes across Balmain Hospital including evidence collation to demonstrate compliance with National Safety & Quality Standards of Healthcare, state and national policy and service frameworks.

Facilitate a patient safety ethos with all staff within Balmain Hospital to achieve an organisational culture, in which patient safety, clinical risk management, clinical quality and consumer partnerships become an integral part of core business.

Empower staff to deliver quality health care which will decrease patient and carer complaints. Provide support and guidance to staff to manage a complaint effectively and understand triggers for complaints. Manage complaints by communicating effectively with patients and their carers.

We are looking for someone who

  • Holds tertiary qualifications in quality or health related field or relevant work experience, or a combination of both in the area of patient safety and quality management.
  • Has demonstrated experience in quality management, National Standards Accreditation and a demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality of care issues.

About working for SLHD

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
