About the role

The role of Birth Suite Administration Officer is to undertake a range of activities that provide effective administrative support, which is patient focused, by providing information and assistance to patients and visitors.

The birth suite administration officer contributes to patient flow by performing a support role to nursing and medical staff and recording all patient movements within the Birth Suite and Special Care Nursery.

About you

  • Demonstrated knowledge or ability to acquire high level keyboard and word processing skills in relation to Corporate Information systems (HBCIS) and Operating Room Management Information System (ORMIS) to ensure patients have been admitted or placed on a respective waiting list and billed appropriately.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of staff, external agencies and members of the public.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of the Queensland Health admitted Data Collection Manual.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a dynamic multidisciplinary team, prioritising workloads, displaying initiative with mínimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of relevant office procedures and high level secretarial and administrative skills.
  • Ability to participate in a working environment supporting procedures, policies, and regulations which impact on the position, in relation to Human Resource Management Issues, including Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, Anti-Discrimination and the Code of Conduct.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/1
  • Vaccinated against COVID19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
