We have a fantastic newly created role for a Safety Manager (Zero Harm Manager) to join our team within our Health and Education (H&E) Line of Business within Downers Facilities and Asset Services (F&AS) Division.

The Downer F&AS division is a leading provider of integrated facilities services with clients across Australia.

The H&E line of business provides comprehensive operational and maintenance services as well as lifecycle maintenance programs to various sites within primary/ secondary/ tertiary education and hospital facilities throughout Australia.

The contracts are a combination of education and health public private partnerships (PPP) and non-PPP health contracts.

This fantastic full-time permanent position can be based out of Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane with periodical interstate travel required.

THE ROLE


As a member of the H&E Zero Harm senior leadership team, reporting to the Head of Zero Harm - Health and Education, this role plays an integral role in leading the implementation of the Zero Harm strategy within the Health Operations and International Convention Centre (ICC) portfolio and will consist of 1+ Direct Reports.


Key responsibilities will include:

Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

Overseeing the delivery and implementation of the Zero Harm Strategy and ensure performance objectives are achieved within agreed timeframes.

Facilitating and developing of a Zero Harm leadership culture within Downer

Overseeing the implementation of the Downer Zero Harm management system to existing and new business opportunities.


Provide expert technical advice and support to management and staff of Downer contracts across an allocated portfolio, including service delivery partners with regards to WHS matters.


Oversight of professional and timely investigation of incidents within business areas, or lead complex investigations utilising ICAM or equivalent methodology.

Development and delivery of zero harm training / coaching, continuous improvement programs and initiatives as required.


Coach and mentor business portfolio leadership on their specific Zero Harm risk profile and conduct incident trend analysis as required.

Full understanding of Quality Management Systems and ability to maintain the policies and procedures within the management system.

Lead compliance, complaints handling and auditing processes.

ABOUT YOU
Minimum 5 years practical experience within a similar (senior HSE Advisor or Manager) WHS role

Prior clinical experience within the Health Industry, preferably within ED and/or Mental Health.

Experience within Commercial Facilities Management and/or High-Risk Construction Industry

Understanding of Infection Control standards and processes within a clinical setting.

Understanding of safety and environmental management systems (ISO45001/ ISO14001) or equivalent standards

Strong skills / experience in conduct of risk assessments (including plant and chemical) and verification of site safety and environmental management plans

Understanding of principles & content of relevant principal and subordinate WHS legislation

Solid knowledge of workers compensation and injury management processes and legislation

Experience in the development of WHS management system and/or environmental management system audit plans

Experience providing technical health, safety and environmental advice across multiple industry sectors

Ability to build relationships with General Managers/Contract Managers and their teams in-order to provide support across geographically dispersed contracts
