We are seeking a Commercial Business Partner to join our Commercial and Procurement Section in our Finance and Business Performance Division for a fixed term contract period up to December 2024.

The Challenge


As the Commercial Business Partner you will lead and manage Hunter Water's procurement strategies and commercial transactions, help connect internal customers to goods and services they need, all while safeguarding Hunter Water's commercial interests.


What you'll do:

  • Display leadership and accountability for Divisional customers including the ongoing development and management of Hunter Water's commercial and procurement strategies, processes, capabilities and outcomes.
  • Manage and advise on risk and commercial issues and associated impact on projects to deliver better commercial and procurement related decisionmaking and activities.
  • Provide strategic advice, guidance, reporting and management of transactions for Divisional customers, senior leaders and the Board on programs, projects, risks and opportunities to improve Hunter Water's commercial and procurement outcomes.
  • Create and deliver sustainable procurement initiatives and implement measurable targets aligned to Hunter Water's strategic requirements.
  • Monitor and adjust to emerging commercial and procurement trends, practices, technologies and issues to ensure delivery and performance towards best practice standards that are cost effective and deliver value for money for Hunter Water and the community.

What you'll need to be successful:

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications in Business, Law, Project Management or related field
  • Comprehensive background in procurement and commercial transactions with a strong sense of business ethics and probity
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and negotiating partnerships and strategic alliances to achieve outcomes
  • Welldeveloped business/commercial acumen with a focus on customer service

Desirable Criteria:

  • Post Graduate qualifications in procurement, business, supply chain, commercial law or related field
  • Work Experience in a Utility or Government Sector
