The Curriculum Leader is a key member of the Excellence in Teaching & Learning Team.

The Teaching & Learning Team meets on a weekly basis and along with the Curriculum Leader, includes:

In recent years, Patterson River has modified the staff meeting schedule to focus on instructional and assessment practices.

The Instructional Model is supported by a focus on High Impact Teaching Strategies building positive relationships, enhanced digital literacy with an ongoing focus on assessment and data practices to improve student learning outcomes.

Considerable time is given to professional learning in the meeting schedule. Staff meet each Monday and Wednesday. Monday staff meetings focus on Teaching and Learning. Wednesday meetings are assigned to Annual Implementation Priorities.


This focus has resulted in considerable gains in the staff opinion survey, with all measures relating to Teaching & Learning, including Teacher Collaboration.


Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Completes the Performance and Development requirements for all Domain leaders
  • Leads domain leaders to ensure consistent practices in relation to curriculum development and implementation
  • Coordinates staff training and support in relation curriculum outlines, reporting and compass learning tasks (including common assessment tasks)
  • Leads and manages the development of the school's assessment and reporting policies and practices
  • Assists the Staff Development Leader in the induction and training of new staff members including demonstration lessons
  • Assists in the planning and development of curriculum days.
  • Member of the College Leadership Team and Teaching and Learning Team contributing to the overall leadership and management of the school
  • Chairs Domain Leaders Meeting
Coordinates whole-school improvement Teaching and Learning initiatives

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
