Each applicant must address the below selection criteria:
- Demonstrated capacity to lead an office team, including capacity for directing the work of others.
- Ability to play a leading role in the effective development and management of school facilities and assets, with due regard to their safe use by all sections of the school community, including Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding and management of human and physical resources, financial¿management practises and policies including the capacity to produce reports and provide advice in respect to those reports.
- High level organisational skills, including the capacity to prioritise work flows and respond to Department of Education policy & guidelines.
- Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to complete Cases21, Compass, EduPay, Recruitment Online, School Council Employment, Student Resource Package including managing budgets and planning tool requirements.
- High level written and verbal communication skills (as well as proven capacity to utilise technology and software applicable to the role), and excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with all members of the school community including students, parents and staff.

Role:
The role of the School Business Manager is to ensure the efficient and effective implementation as well as manage the delivery, evaluation and improvement of the following services within the school.
The position entails the management of financial, human resources, facilities, OH&S while complying with regulatory and legislative requirements and department policies and procedures.
The Business Manager should ensure that internal and external stakeholders are provided with up to date information relating to the school, students, activities and they are aware of their responsibilities.
They should provide adequate, timely and appropriate advice so the Principal is able to make informed decisions relating to the management of the whole school.
The Business Manager should assist with the implementation of School Council and Principal decisions and assist with the deployment of school resources to increase the quality of the staff teaching environment and the learning experience of the students.
Responsibilities:
The core role of the Business Manager includes but is not limited to:
Finance
- Oversee the Student Resource Package (SRP), including accurate inputs into the planner each year and providing accurate advice to the Principal
- Manage the preparation of annual budgets via a defined cycle
- Provide regular financial statements and contribute to the financial decisionmaking of the school
- Provide advice to staff on spending against budget in respect to faculties, programs and other school projects
- Pay invoices and bills for goods and services to ensure the school maintains integrity and good faith with all stakeholders
- Prepare funding submissions for the leadership team and School Council
- Direct the accounting processes of the school via CASES21 and ensure that all funds, including school investments, are effectively accounted for according to Department of Education regulations
- Administer government grants and other school revenue and expenditure
- Manage fundraising activities via liaison with school staff and Families and Friends Association
- Provide timely advice for the Principal in relation to budget and Human Resources
- Provide administrative support for school events, functions and projects
- Provide administrative support to external service providers including City of Port Phillip, outofschoolhours contracts and other third party contractors
- Oversee the management of student admissions, registrations, enrolments and transfers
- Oversee the school web page
- Manage the School Leaders, and Community and Services page in the School Newsletter
- Oversee Compass software to achieve school goals (both financial and administration)
- Implement induction processes for new staff, volunteers, and other workers at the school
- Manage the design and production of school publications and documents
- Manage the Community Joint Use Agreement with City of Port Phillip Council.
