About the Role

Our client is looking for a Grid Connection Manager for the Waratah Super Battery project to liaise with both AEMO and power systems consultancies on all things Grid Connection.


Key Criteria

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, technical consultants, AEMO, NSPs and the client, being the key representative for the client specific to grid connection.
  • Management of the grid connection process
  • Technical responsibility for System Acceptant Test. The main purpose of this test is to evaluate the system's compliance with the technical requirements and verify if it has met the required criteria for delivery to end user (GPS R2 step and commissioning of the plant).
  • Sizing of new renewable energies and storage power plants in order to meet grid code set out by the local utility authority.
  • Cost effectiveness studies of energy plants base on new technologies, according to the Australian regulation frame.
  • Definition of any customisation of the product/control algorithm based on the particular project conditions of this country.

Skills and Requirements
Engineering Degree (Bachelor or Master), ideally Electrical or Power Electronic Systems.

  • Knowledge of Power Electronic Systems, and in particular Solar/ Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects and grid integration.
  • Experience working with AEMO and TNSPs connecting power plants to the Australian NEM.
  • Working knowledge of AEMO GPS Standards and National Electricity Rules (NEM/ WEM).
  • High proficiency with PSSE and PSCAD.
  • Knowledge of secondary systems including SCADA in substations.
  • Ability to read, interpret and create electrical drawings.
  • Experience in engaging with and evaluating equipment vendors and service providers.
  • Strong stakeholder network in Australia.
