Group Audit and Assurance (GA&A) are the internal audit function for the Group.

Their primary purpose is to provide independent and objective assurance of the effectiveness of the Groups risk management, controls and governance processes.

Over the last three years GA&A has increasingly embedded digital assurance into audit activities, injecting Artificial Intelligence (AI) into routine control testing and using digital tools to improve the overall experience for employees.


By reducing administrative overhead, GA&A have increased their teams capacity for high value judgement-based activities and expanded their support to include sharing knowledge and tools that create better risk coverage across the Bank for all Three Lines of Assurance.

GA&A's Non-Financial Risk and Support Services, (NFRSS) team is responsible for auditing and reviewing CBA's Finance, Risk Management and Support Services functions, including emerging, strategic and operational risks.

We partner with all areas of CommBank to provide specialist services, to both customer-facing and customer-supporting teams, in the areas of:

  • Non-Financial Risk areas; including Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) risks, Risk Management Frameworks (strategic and operational), Compliance & Risk Culture.
  • Finance; incl. Group Finance, Legal, Tax, Regulatory Reporting, Business & Support Unit Finance & Investor Relations.
As such, we provide comprehensive analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across CommBank conduct and products. From delivering strategic initiatives, management reports and scaling our automated processes, GA&A is an important business partner.


As a member of the GA&A NFRF team you'll advise the stakeholders across the Group to identify and mitigate areas of risk and make valuable recommendations on controls.

Do work that
matters

  • In line with CBA Internal Audit Methodology build, review and deliver effective and efficient assurance of the ESG portfolio
  • Effectively support, supervise and deliver assigned scope areas of the audit from Planning, Fieldwork, Reporting, and through to audit closure including administration of key audit stagegates in the audit electronic workflow system
  • Draft issues and agree factual accuracy and ratings with the Team Leader and the stakeholders, as well support the Team Leader in preparing simple, pragmatic and easy to read audit reporting, including audit reports and issue logs
  • Create and develop independent and objective relationships within GA&A, the bank and externally to enable effective knowledge sharing and collaboration

We're interested in hearing from people who possess

  • Experience in strategic / operational risk or internal / external audit covering key risk processes and controls.
  • Experience across a domain of ESG practices and processes including one or more of:
  • Climate change and climate-related risk, emissions and greenwashing
  • Sustainability reporting and emerging reporting requirements
  • Sustainable finance and responsible investment
  • Social impact, Modern Slavery and other social focussed processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and work crossfunctionally, navigating ambiguity while managing multiple scope areas or priorities in a fastpaced, deadlinedriven environment, accepting accountability of the process and delivering on commitments
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of risk frameworks to manage compliance, strategic and operational risk, ideally with a working knowledge of associated standards.
