About the role

The Director, Engineering & Program Services provides expert project wide strategic direction and is responsible for the delivery, quality, and constructability of engineering and other Program Services (E&PS) disciplines for the whole of the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), to be delivered within agreed budgets.

The position is the ultimate reviewer of Engineering & Program Services (EPS) provided by a unique combination of LXRP staff working across the program in roles accountable to LXRP as Project Owner and within Alliances participating with our delivery partners (consulting engineers, contractors and other alliance service providers).

The organisation is highly matrixed, with a wide range of technical disciplines.
Efficiency management is imperative.

The role reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for overseeing E&PS which includes Engineering, Land & Property, Planning Environment & Place (PEP) and Property Development disciplines.


In this role, you will:


Lead the strategic approach, ensuring E&PS provides expert technical advice to Program Directors and senior management to enable LXRP to achieve it strategic objective of Great Change.

Drive continuous improvement, innovation and self-improvement within the department and industry Continuously reviewing and assisting the Alliances to ensure that superior practices are taken up by all.

Ensure leading practices which are continuously improving are consistently deployed throughout the Project.
Ensure Technical Requirements are industry leading.
Develop a strong relationship and liaise with the LXRP Delivery Director to ensure E&PS provides the expert services required.
Develop strong relationships and regularly liaise with Alliance Leadership and Management Teams to promote new ideas and foster collaboration.

Maintain relationships with Government and private sector stakeholders to ensure an integrated and coordinated program of works as well as be aware of changes and new requirements.

Maintain coordination with other transport sectors.
Provide guidance, leadership and ensure development to the E&PS team.
