Our Purpose


VicReturn is an exciting new business, tasked with the oversight and administration of Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme ("CDS Vic"), which is scheduled to launch in November 2023.

At VicReturn we are motivated to help keep beverage containers out of landfill, creating clean streams of recycled materials that help to build our Circular Economy by promoting product stewardship of all Beverage Suppliers in Victoria.

As the appointed Scheme Coordinator for CDS Vic, we work with government and partners to oversee the building of a large-scale container recycling network which will play a key role in transforming Victoria's waste and recycling system.

Through a 10c refund for every eligible container returned we will encourage Victorians to collect and recycle their beverage containers, making a positive difference to our people, environment and local industry.

About the role:


The Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Engagement Manager role will advise and be a strategic partner between VicReturn and its key operational entities.

The role will focus on building productive and mutually beneficial working relationships, removing inhibitors for success and driving contractual performance.

The role will measure performance of these entities through analytical analysis and ensure positive open communication between the groups ultimately championing VicReturn business objectives and goals.


Develop and maintain an account master plan for each operational entity aligned with VicReturn audit program, marketing campaign and events and governance cadence.

Monitor and influence mobilisation of the operational network, with a focus on establishing baseline material volumes, milestones and risk management.

Facilitate and write monthly, quarterly and annual business reviews, highlighting contractual and operational performance whilst tracking growth and improvement initiatives.

Monitor customer feedback as it relates to operational performance and initiate corrective actions if required.
Develop, and operationalise innovative programs that relate to the scheme that support community initiatives,

Skills and Experiences:

About you:

Bachelor or Postgraduate University qualification

Experience in operations management, commercial or account management and/or within the recycling industry with a proven ability to manage multiple professional priorities, projects and relationships concurrently.

Demonstrable experience in planning and delivering agreed outcomes within a timeframe.

An analytical mind able to measure performance and key metrics, with an ability to present data and provide key insights.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
