Position Information:


Brisbane Water Secondary College (BWSC) was established in 2002 to expand the educational opportunities of students on the Peninsula by offering a collaborative approach from across one school with two distinct campuses.

BWSC is a dynamic comprehensive, co-educational, 7-12 College established to provide pedagogy in learning environments that cater to the nature and specific needs of middle years learners and senior learners.


BWSC Umina Campus has an enrolment of 892 Years - 9 students of which 10% are Aboriginal and BWSC Woy Woy Senior Campus has an enrolment of 702 Years students of which 16% are Aboriginal students.

BWSC is a proud member of the Brisbane Water Learning Community (BWLC) which includes five partner primary schools.

A shared commitment to the vision of a united cohesive K-12 curriculum delivery through quality teaching is the alliances mandate.

Our Campus works in partnership with the Koorana AECG and P&C to co-create and collaborate to ensure our students achieve personal success.

The College Principal is responsible for working collaboratively with the Campus Principals in leading and managing BWSC.

The College Principal works with the College Management Group and all key stakeholders to co-design

Strategic Planning:

to create opportunities for intensive planning and coordination of cross campus initiatives to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for all students and staff.


Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • A demonstrated capacity to work within a collective to lead a culture of high expectations, collaboration and continuous improvement and to engage and inspire staff to commit to delivering high quality, innovative, contemporary, inclusive teaching and learning that has a positive impact on student learning.
  • Demonstrated highly developed communication and organisational skills to work with all stakeholders to plan, coordinate and deliver efficient, impactful systems, processes, structures and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in authentic partnership with Aboriginal students and communities to produce outstanding outcomes.
  • Proven outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and foster productive relationships and build effective partnerships across a diverse community.

General Selection Criteria:

  • High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
  • Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
  • Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
  • Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
  • Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
