About the role
You will join an established team and report to the Regional GM of Safety with an opportunity to lead the transformation of our Health, Safety and Environment management culture in the Northern region.
You will provide health, safety and environmental leadership and support across all levels at Vinidex Northern Region Manufacturing, Distribution and Warehouse facilities. A key emphasis will be on coaching and influencing leaders within the region to develop a safety mindset and to build organisational capability. This is a standalone role which requires you to develop relationships and partner with operations to enable their implementation of key strategic elements.
What will you do?
• Lead and manage the Safety Management System Provide coaching and mentorship to site managers, guiding them through best practices in safety. You will conduct audits, ensure accurate record-keeping, and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee site-specific safety plans: Ensuring that all required managers and supervisors are aware of site plan requirements affecting their individual positions and direct reports.
• Conducting periodic system verification audits: Regularly perform thorough audits to assess and verify the effectiveness of safety systems, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance.
• Incident management: Lead the end-to-end process for incident management, from reporting to root cause investigation and the implementation of corrective actions.
• Build capability in Health, Safety and Environment: Facilitate continuous training and learning across the region.
• Workers Compensation: Manage workers compensation claims.
• Contribute to strategic safety initiatives: Be a part of development of safety strategy and participate in regional and national projects and initiatives.
About you
You are an experienced health, safety and environmental leader ready to step into a role with a big scope and autonomy in a larger organisation and ready to be hands-on. You will also have the following:
• Minimum 8 years of work experience in Health, Safety & Environment management in a manufacturing industry or similar.
• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• Knowledge and experience with Queensland Environment Authorities (EA) and Environment Relevant Activities (ERA).
• In-depth knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
• Demonstrated knowledge on managing workers compensation claims and injury management.
• Good communication and people development skills to help drive teams to achieve SHE targets via performance management processes.
• You are an adept listener and problem-solver who can resolve conflicts, motivate teams, and lead change initiatives effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
• Proficient with data analysis and reporting requirements.
• A plus would be a Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHSO) certificate of authority
