About the Role

We are currently seeking passionate, experienced, and skilled Recovery Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team. The role delivers high-quality and efficient services by providing person-centred, individualised support to residents, drawing upon their existing support networks on their road to recovery, whether that be from coexisting trauma, disability, and physical health, or complex unmet needs. 

A Recovery Support Worker works alongside consumers in a person-centred and trauma-informed way to aid recovery, drawing on collaborative support networks.

As a Recovery Support Worker, you will be responsible for encouraging and supporting a healthy lifestyle, which includes supporting consumers to access clinical and non-clinical supports, increasing and improving community access, developing, and enhancing skills, and facilitating recovery groups. 

Other responsibilities within the role include: 

  • Work alongside residents to achieve their individualized recovery goals.  
  • Provide psychosocial support to residents residing within the residential service. 
  • Support the residents to access the community in a way that is meaningful to them. 
  • Taking clients to appointments when required 
  • Assist with medication management. 
  • Provide 1:1 emotional and physical support. 
  • Support people to navigate mental distress. 
  • Family members, carers, and people of significance to the person as identified are included as directed by the individual. 
  • Addressed all critical incidents according to RW’s policy and procedure.  

The site rosters cover a range of different shifts which may include day, afternoon, weekend, and overnights. 

We have one part-time position available at our Seville Grove service, offering 144 hours over 4 weeks.

About you 

To be successful you will have the following key attributes: 

  • Qualification in Human Services (e.g. Mental Health, Community Services, Psychology, Counselling)
  • Demonstrated experience in mental health work and a sound understanding of recovery within a human service context 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Mental Health complexities and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritise workloads. 
  • A current NDIS worker screening 
  • A valid First Aid; 
  • A current satisfactory Police Clearance; and 
  • A current driver’s license. 
  • Available to work a range of shifts including weekends and nights (awake) 
  • Willing to assist residents in maintaining their tenancy through capacity building and the undertaking of cleaning duties when required.
