Be part of a new way forward for road network management in Victoria. We’re looking for a Maintenance Lead to start early May, based out of our Dandenong South depot.

About the Role

Starting in July this year, we’ll be working across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs and right down the Mornington Peninsula, delivering routine maintenance, emergency response and defect rectification works, as well as network refurbishment and upgrade projects, under a major long-term contract with the Victorian Government.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Delivery Manager, the Maintenance Delivery Lead oversees safe, compliant and efficient completion of allVRMC routine servicing/cyclic works, hazard and defect rectification works and emergency response activities.

Specifically, the Maintenance Delivery Lead is accountable for:

Onboarding, training and Verification of Competency for allMaintenance Delivery team members, including Delivery Partner (subcontractor) personnel

Working closely with the Pre-Works team to complete works in line with Section 750 requirements, while minimising impacts on road users and communities, and maximising resource utilisation within the Maintenance Delivery team

Defining, implementing and continually refining Maintenance Delivery processes in line with Section 750 requirements and data management standards

Leadingdaily pre-start meetings and carrying outday-to-day activity and performance management of the Maintenance Delivery team, with a strong focus on safety, quality and efficiency

Liaising with the Works Monitoring team to respond to emergency events and prioritise completion of urgent hazard rectification works

Maintaininga full complement ofvehicles,equipment and tools in safe working order, as well as all required materials and consumables

The Maintenance Delivery Lead is a potential successor to the Delivery Manager and will have regular opportunities perform this role in an Acting capacity, as part of a structured career development program.

About You:

You’ll have at least eight years' experience in a road maintenance or civil works environment, including at least five years’ experience managing a team of at least 10 direct and indirect reports.


An established leader who drives for service excellence and continuous improvement, you’lldemonstrate:

Extensive experience managing internal workforces and delivery partners to deliver services to specification, program and cost

An inclusive approach to managing and developing your team, underpinned by an ability to make best-for-Contract decisions within your span of control 

Detailed knowledge of civil construction and/or road network management practices, including access, permit and licensing requirements for road maintenance operations

Exceptional time-management skills and a proven ability to maintaineffective, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders

A proactive lead-indicator approach to minimising quality, safety and environmental risks and incidents

Formal qualifications (Cert IV or higher) in a technical discipline are a bonus, but not essentialif you can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and capability.
