Job Description Summary

We are seeking a based Fund Administration Associate to join our Fund Admin - SYD in Global Technology & Operations.

Team/Group Description

The Australian Fund Accounting team perform varied key operational and regulatory functions, responsible for the fund accounting and fund administrative service of the Australian organization. Products cover the full range of the firm’s ever growing investment capabilities, including Fixed Interest, Equity, as well as Alternative Investments, Blend, Multi-Asset strategies, with an expanding range of derivative content. We oversee the day to day Net Asset Value calculation as well as the regulatory and client reporting requirements as required on a product by product basis. The candidate should have a proficient knowledge of mutual fund accounting. The job requires knowledge of tax issues, ASIC regulations, financial reporting and the use of spreadsheets. It also requires excellent analytical skills, communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills. The knowledge and skills required are acquired through the completion of a college education as well as experience in the mutual fund industry. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in standard desktop applications (excel, word, outlook, etc). There are extensive relations with many functions of the AllianceBernstein business, notably Investment Management, Product Development, Legal & Compliance, Marketing, Internal Audit, Transfer Agency, Corporate Accounting, as well as other departments within Global Operations and Information Technology.

Role Description

We are seeking an Australian, Sydney based Associate to join our Operations team in Fund Administration.

This role is a unique opportunity for an individual who is willing to challenge themselves and play a key role in Fund Administration. The role involves interacting with internal and external teams on a regular basis and would suit a candidate with excellent communication. The role is very varied which gives an ideal opportunity for the role holder to develop themselves and build an excellent working knowledge of the wider business.

The Fund Administration role necessitates constant emphasis on attention to detail and adherence to deadlines but also requires an ability to ensure prompt and appropriate response to a broad range of enquiries from internal and external clients

Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Operational:

  • daily NAV Accuracy and Timeliness
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Mthly & Annual Statistical and Financial reporting
  • Audit and Tax Coordination
  • New Product launches
  • Vendor Management
  • Process Improvement
  • International Operations consulting
  • Timely delivery of reports and related queries
  • Manage own workflow queues to complete all items by internal and external cut off times
  • Implementing and oversight of procedures and agreed service levels to ensure delivery of services are accurate and timely
  • Assist the Department Head with departmental projects to improve the current processes and/or systems
  • Assist with the review of the implemented procedures and agreed service levels to ensure delivery of services in an accurate and timely manner
  • Problem identification and resolution

Collaboration:

Work with colleagues locally and globally to develop methodology and reporting to support new business and products Participation in global internal working groups and functional service level forums. Attend relevant Industry forums Undertake project work at the direction of the Manager Process improvement recommendations Broadening knowledge of others.

The vast line of products we have at AB, should provide you with great exposure and experience you normally will not see within a fund complex. You are not doing the day to day accounting, which gets redundant and tiring after some time. Our role is more analytical in nature.

Job Qualifications

  • Qualifications, Experience, and Education: The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or another relevant discipline. 3+ years’ experience in fund administration or finance industry experience.

  • Skills: Our team members typically have track records of outstanding professional performance or academic achievement, along with excellent analytical skills, financial skills, technical skills, spreadsheeting skills, attention to detail as well as strong communication skills (verbal and written). Candidates should have a strong ability to work and manage in a collaborative environment and to present results to both expert and non-expert audiences.

  • Special Knowledge: The Candidate should have a proficient knowledge of fund accounting. The job requires knowledge of Australian Tax issues, ASIC regulations, and financial reporting. The candidate should possess strong communication skills with proven experience in communicating with custodians and client services, work well in a team environment, and handle change with a positive outlook.
