At Thales, we know technology has the ability to make our world more secure, sustainable, and inclusive – and that it’s all driven by human intelligence.
Because it takes human intelligence to build and power the systems and solutions that people depend on every day. So we stay curious and make space for diverse points of view. We share what we know and we challenge what’s possible.
From manufacturing and engineering to cybersecurity and space, we’re driving progress in some of the world’s most important industries – and working together to build a future we can all trust.
About Us:
Thales Above Water Systems (AWS) has been a trusted partner to the Royal Australian Navy, demonstrating unwavering commitment and support. Our dedication is evident in our close collaboration with the Navy, where we deliver dependable sustainment, integration, and lifecycle management services. Thales has also proudly safeguarded critical Australian maritime facilities, such as the Captain Cook Graving Dock, the nation's largest dry dock, providing essential docking and sustainment services.
Our Opportunity:
As a Maintenance Planner at Thales Australia, you will play a pivotal role in organising production and repair activities. Your expertise will drive the development of work orders to meet demand, ensuring optimal achievement of time, cost, and quality while upholding Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. You'll be at the forefront of continuous improvement initiatives and will develop maintenance period work packages for the assigned asset. This includes the identification of all requirements to execute each maintenance (Preventative and Corrective) and engineering change incorporation work order. You will liaise with the Scheduler, Engineering Services and Supply Chain Services to capture and communicate these requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage plans, ensuring strong data integrity and adherence to planning standards.
Coordinate with Supply Chain Services to optimise stock status and resource utilisation.
Implement planning strategies in the CMMS and ERP systems, including supply chain indicators.
Collaborate with key parties to ensure consistency in production and repair activities.
Monitor progress and resolve potential issues in procurement, production, and repair.
How about you?
Mastery of Industrial Information Systems (CMMS, ERP, MRP, PLM).
Minimum of five years' postgraduate or trade industrial experience, with a focus on ship-related technical experience.
In-depth knowledge of maintenance management, supply chain processes, and Just-in-Time production.
As part of our commitment, we offer:
Work on a site with the million-dollar view
Leading leave policies
Growth and Development opportunities
Study Assistance
Employee discounts
Gym Membership (Fitness passport)
And now the fine Print
As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
It’s easy to dismiss the perfect opportunity if you don’t see yourself as the perfect fit. If this role feels right – no matter your background or personal circumstances – please introduce yourself or join our community. We’re committed to supporting a diverse workplace, and that starts here.
We’re proud to be endorsed by WORK180 as an Employer for All Women, but we know there’s always more we can do. We’ll continue to foster industry partnerships, employee resource groups (ERGs) and development opportunities to make Thales a genuinely equitable employer, for everyone.
