As an aspiring finance leader, the Group Financial Reporting Manager is a key role leading the financial accounting and tax teams to ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting; this role is well suited to a financial professional aspiring to become a Financial Controller in a large ASX listed organisation.

The successful applicant will provide insightful analysis to senior stakeholders, including executives and Board Committees (ie. the Audit Committee), and will drive the continuous improvements in internal process and controls in conjunction with other finance leaders.

About the role:

  • Integrity of the general ledger, financial reporting and tax filings
  • Appropriateness of accounting policies, including stocktaking procedures, inventory provisioning and net realisable value, rebates, make good, lease options, revenue recognition, impairment testing, etc.
  • Providing technical accounting support for the wider finance team and the business, and accounting for key judgements and estimates with sound commercial justification
  • Managing periodic financial reporting with direct oversight over financial accounting and tax teams, including primary engagement with auditors and tax advisors
  • Provide direction, training, purpose and empowerment that motivates and inspires other team members
  • Financial oversight of group subsidiaries, including supporting the subsidiaries finance teams in financial control, planning and reporting
  • Lead production of the interim and year-end Myer financial report, with a key focus on appropriate disclosure of key accounting estimates and judgements, and providing analytical review of the financial results to key finance personnel.
  • Identification and execution (including change management) of initiative that lead to more effective and efficient finance function.
  • Produce timely and high-quality reporting the Audit Committee
  • Lead the taxation function ensuring Myer meets all tax obligations, and identifies and addresses key tax risks and opportunities in order to ensure tax implications are considered in management decision making.

About you:

  • Chartered Accountant or CPA qualified
  • A demonstrated leader in financial accounting or chartered roles
  • Strong technical accounting skills gained in an ASX listed or large corporate environment, audit or technical accounting role experience beneficial
  • Experience leading or working with a taxation function and tax accounting matters
  • Strong presentation skills and experience conveying complex financial matters to a variety of senior audiences
