The Company
The company is a globally recognized transport network operating across Australasia, the UK, Europe, and Asia, providing essential bus and rail services to keep cities and communities connected. As the largest bus network in Australasia, the company manages over 100 long-term contracts, employs a team of 7,400 dedicated individuals, and operates a fleet of 5,000 buses, including over 300 zero-emission buses.
Position Overview:
This role is dedicated to delivering operationally effective and efficient fleet management for the relevant depot, along with providing replacement and maintenance services to achieve the company’s objectives.
The position involves overseeing the daily utilization, repair, and maintenance of all heavy commercial fleet vehicles (buses and trucks) and supporting the broader company in all fleet-related matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the depot's workshop team(s), showcasing excellence in staff supervision and commitment to the company's corporate values.
- Manage and maintain the fleet's repair and maintenance programs.
- Coordinate with workshop teams, vehicle repairers, and insurance staff to ensure timely and satisfactory repair of damaged vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with all QT/RTA vehicle inspections and schedules, and that all repairs meet company and QT/RTA standards.
- Develop, maintain, and proactively build business relationships with stakeholders and customers.
- Foster a collaborative working environment both internally and externally, focusing on excellent service provision and individual performance.
- Address daily operational and HR issues, escalating complex or sensitive matters to your manager as necessary.
- Ensure timely reporting and maintain accurate documentation as required.
- Analyze and report on fleet performance.
- Manage the stores function and inventory to appropriate levels in coordination with the spare parts team.
- Assist the management team in monitoring environmental vehicle performance and ensuring standards are met.
- Ensure client reporting is completed in line with contractual commitments.
- Actively participate in internal and customer investigations.
- Continuously engage in improving our fleet, workshops, and personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Trade qualification, Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.
- Previous mechanical experience in maintaining and repairing heavy commercial fleet vehicles (buses and trucks).
- Medium-rigid license required; heavy-rigid license preferred.
- Forklift license preferred.
- Strong leadership skills to motivate and facilitate work teams in achieving results.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to implement solutions decisively.
- High-level oral and written communication skills.
