Reporting into the National Accountant, you will be responsible for reconciling all balance sheet accounts, credit card statements, payroll and travel expenditure to ensure accuracy and completeness. You will prepare and monitor budgets for the National Office and branches, as well as prepare all month-end and year-end closing activities. This will include consolidated reporting, management and branch reporting. You will also be responsible for forecasting future financial trends and providing financial advice to Union executive leadership.

In addition you will assist with the preparation of Annual Reports and Special Purpose Financial Reporting. You will support internal and external audits by providing necessary documention and explanations. You will also be required to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures including ensuring Payroll and GST compliance is adhered to.

Finally you will be required to report on financial performance and provide insights to support strategic planning and decision making. You will ensure the Union complies with all tax regulations, including filing accurate and timely tax returns. 

To be considered for this role you will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business and will ideally be CA/CPA qualified. You will have advanced skills in using Accounting systems (preferably Sun/Xero). You will have strong attention to detail and will have the ability to analyse data, generate reports and provide insights to support decision making. You will have exceptional customer service skills and excellent communication skills.
