Saga Bar Pty Ltd (an entity of Saga Management Services Pty Ltd) is currently seeking an experienced Head Chef to join their fine dining restaurant in Chippendale.

The successful applicant must hold a relevant Advanced Diploma or Diploma, and have at least 2 years minimum experience of full time post qualification experience. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.

The ideal applicant will also display the following:

  • Kitchen Management skills

Key duties include:

  • Responsible menu creation and menu planning.
  • Monitoring portion and waste control.
  • Make sure that the food meets customers' satisfaction from presentation to the taste of the food.
  • Hire and Train new kitchen staff.
  • Stocktake and portion control.
  • Controlling and directing the food preparation process.
  • Approving and polishing dishes before they reach the customers.
  • Managing and supervising Cooks and kitchen staff.
  • Creating menu items, recipes and developing dishes ensuring variety and quality.
  • Determining food inventory needs, stocking, and ordering.
  • Ultimately be responsible for ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines.
  • Responsible for health and safety.
  • Responsible for food hygiene practices.

This is a full time role working 38 hours per week, and a salary of $80,000 plus super per year will be offered to the successful candidate.
