The Opportunity 

Play a key role in the delivery of IT solutions, by designing solutions that achieve business outcomes in a cost-effective way, while meeting Enterprise architecture, regulatory, security and performance requirements.  

What you’ll be doing day-to-day 

Platform planning and management.  

  • Embedded within a cross functional team, Solution architects develop a deep understanding of required business outcomes, and documents the technical solutions required to deliver them.

  • Determine how solutions can be thinly sliced, to support rapid and iterative delivery that realises value in advance of a full-scale deployment.  

  • Identify solution options to inform trade-off conversations on balancing delivery speed, levels of automation, re-use, technical debt, and cost.  

  • Identify and escalate architecture decisions that require input from Enterprise architecture.  

  • Work with technical architects to size solutions.  

  • Have a clear understanding of Vocus strategy, and the implication for platform roadmaps.  

  • Identify where prototypes are required to validate user experience or complex technical requirements.  

Maintain ways of working consistent with Vocus standards.  

  • Build and maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders.  

  • Support continuous improvement of the System of Work by raising improvement opportunities.  

  • Deep understanding of how data is used within business processes and its impact on desired business process outcomes.   

What you’ll bring to this role 

  • Minimum 15years commercial IT experience with 10 Years demonstrated experience as a solution architect.  

  • 3 Years demonstrated experience in the Telecommunications sector and / or an agile solutioning environment.  

  • Excellent with business analysis processes and ability to work closely with senior business stakeholders.  

  • Outstanding commitment to customer service and internal and external customer experience.  

  • Ability to ensure consistency of standards/procedures and promote efficiencies.  

  • Well-developed relationship building skills.  

  • Able to work and deliver to committed timeframes.  

  • Strong leadership characteristics.  

  • Negotiation, conflict management skills.  

  • Experience working with Jira, Confluence, Gitlab and Microsoft office products.
