About the job  

We are looking for a Manager Regional Water Security to manage water security initiatives for regional and remote areas of South Australia. This role includes ensuring compliance with water licenses and influencing water allocation planning to benefit customers. The manager will lead the water security risk framework, enhancing SA Water’s overall management system, and oversee provision of hydrogeological expertise to manage groundwater risks and opportunities. The ideal candidate will support research and development to address knowledge gaps in groundwater resources, ensuring sustainable and optimal outcomes for SA Water customers.

In addition, your responsibilities will include: 

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day. 

You will: 

  • Support regional and remote water security plans or strategies that deliver sustainable customer outcomes and integrate with SA Water’s operational and capital business processes.
  • Manage compliance processes for water licences and influence water allocation planning to ensure best outcomes for SA Water customers.
  • Develop and lead SA Water’s water security risk framework and mature SA Water’s overarching water security management system.
  • Manage the provision of hydrogeological expertise within SA Water to manage groundwater risks and maximise opportunities.
  • Support our people by sharing knowledge across the business.

Your success in this role will come from: 

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Science or Engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in water security principles, practices, investigations, and risk management frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and influencing water resource policy (including alternate water sources) – Desirable.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in groundwater science – Desirable.
