The Role:

As the NBL’s Social Media Coordinator, you will work closely with a passionate group of like-minded creators to produce engaging content across multiple platforms, with a focus on audience growth and new fans. 
  
You will have the opportunity to explore new social media trends and create collaborative content with a team of video, social, and written experts.
  
A passion for basketball is key, and knowledge of the league, its players, and its teams is extremely beneficial in this role as we seek to educate and engage fans worldwide.
  
Reporting to the Digital & Social Media Manager and working among a team of six, the successful applicant would benefit from existing writing skills and experience of a journalistic nature, proven knowledge in the social media space, either personally or in a previous role, and be analytically-minded, with the league’s focus on optimising the success of its content on all channels.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate new ideas for the league’s social media channels and present them to the Digital & Social Media Manager in conjunction with the social media team.
  • Create campaigns, graphics, and videos for social platforms, including but not limited to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Develop and maintain a weekly content calendar consistent with the league’s existing digital content schedule.
  • Provide reports and analytics to the Digital & Social Media Manager, providing insight into the best-performing content and potential opportunities for growth.
  • Moderate and manage fan/consumer interaction across league social media channels.
  • Document emerging social media trends, updates, and developments, reporting back to the broader digital team.
  • Assist the Digital Content Coordinator and GM—Digital & Content in formulating written content for the league’s website and app.
  • Work on key projects supporting the NBL, inclusive of NBL1 and NBL Store
  • Manage the league’s social media channels on game nights (as required) and provide assistance to clubs.

About The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in the social media space and a proven record of growing channels and audiences, particularly in sports.
  • Thorough understanding of social media platforms, including but not limited to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Passionate about emerging trends across social and digital platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a wider team.
  • A willingness to work weekends and times outside of regular business hours, ie. game nights, breaking news out of hours etc.
  • Existing skills that would be beneficial in this role: Graphic design, written/journalism, basic video editing, Adobe suite.
  • Available to work game nights and weekends throughout the season.
