Scope of Role:
As a Facility Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of state-of-the-art accelerator systems.

  • Oversee the regulatory compliance of accelerator facilities.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and improve accelerator performance and safety protocols.
  • Lead and support development projects to enhance system capabilities and reduce hazards.
  • Provide technical expertise to users, and ensure ongoing maintenance of equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe operations of accelerators and beamlines, following national and international best practices.
  • Manage compliance with regulatory standards for a Prescribed Radiation Facility.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure all operational activities meet the necessary requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to accelerator operations and scientific instrumentation.
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and maintenance of existing systems.

What You Bring:

  • A degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field with a focus on accelerator research or a Masters in a relevant discipline.
  • Hands-on experience working in an accelerator research setting.
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessments, regulatory compliance, and working within a regulated environment.
  • The ability to troubleshoot complex systems and adapt quickly in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience with project management for technical development tasks.
  • Australian citizenship and successful security and medical clearance are essential for this role.
