About the opportunity

The Werribee Mother Baby Unit (MBU) treats Perinatal Mental Illness and has a focus on strengthening parenting capacity by optimising the Mother-Infant attachment relationship. The MBU is a 6 bed 6 cot inpatient Perinatal Mental Health Unit on the grounds of the Werribee Mercy Hospital campus. The multidisciplinary treating team members include psychiatrist, psychiatric registrar, psychologist, maternal and child health nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, postgraduate level nursing staff, dietician, Nurse Unit Manager and other liaising clinicians.

This is a great opportunity for a psychologist to join our Perinatal Mother and Baby Unit where you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide psychological assessment and teatment to clients of the Mother Baby Unit, through both individual and group therapy.

- 12 months fixed-term 0.6 EFT 24 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday preferred but negotiable)

- Based at Werribee Mercy Hospital in the Perinatal Mental Health Service – Inpatient Mother Baby Unit

- As a Clinical Psychologist (P2), provide assessment, case formulation, treatment planning, and evidence-based psychological therapies to female inpatients receiving care in the Mother Baby Unit

- Receive regular clinical supervision from senior clinical psychologists, plus opportunities for group supervision and professional development

To thrive in this role, you will have:

 •     A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology

 •     Current registration with AHPRA as a psychologist, with endorsement as a clinical psychologist or working towards endorsement (Clinical Psychology Registrars able to apply)

 •     Interest in attachment, maternal mental health, and contributing to the well-being of mothers and infants during the perinatal period

 •     Up-to-date clinical and theoretical knowledge and skills in evidence-based psychological practice, such as CBT, ACT, Schema, DBT-informed, and/or attachment-based therapies

 •     Demonstrated clinical competence in mental states and risk assessment

 •     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 •     Demonstrated ability to build relationships with people at all levels and work collaboratively with a diverse multidisciplinary team

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
