Tree Inspection Officer

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Arborist who is wanting to further their career whist maintaining their trade skills, to join our Public Tree Team.
Reporting to the City Arborist- Public Trees, you will provide accurate and effective technical assessment and recommendations relating to tree management and public risk matters and have an understanding of Australian Standards AS 4970-2009 Protection of trees on development sites and AS 4373-2007 pruning of amenity trees.
About the role
This position is responsible for undertaking inspections regarding customer requests for tree works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Making recommendations for tree works in accordance with policy and development planning control
- Undertake proactive tree inspections, update, and maintain councils tree data base, issue works and raise requests for further investigation.
- Make decisions and implement work practices in line with acceptable practices of the Arboriculture trade and industry.
- Manage contractors and council staff to ensure compliance with: Australian standards, SafeWork NSW Code of Practice: Amenity Tree Industry, legislative requirements (permits) and councils’ systems.
- Liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide feedback and input on improvements in operating procedures, programs and work schedules, including upgrading or improvements to plant, equipment, materials and tools used by the team or unit.
- Adapt to changing priorities and undertake other tasks as directed.
- Ensure correct completion of all necessary administrative functions (electronic based).
About You
We are looking for an Arborist with:
- AQF3 Certificate in Arboriculture (or working towards completion)
- Class C Driver’s License
- 5 years’ experience in arboriculture operations.
- Previous experience in tree inspections, report writing, investigations and formative pruning.
- Great communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Previous experience using technology to conduct field based assessments.
What’s on offer
We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $85,293 to $93,952 plus 11.5% superannuation.
Participation in Council’s Motor Vehicle Scheme will be discussed with the successful applicant.
