About the Role
As the Data Engineer/Architect you will work on client projects which solve complex business and social issues across a wide range of industries. You will be part of a highly skilled, award-winning team which has a focus on both the technical and business aspects of data, analytics, and AI. We believe that this will make you a very well rounded and valued data professional.
Your colleagues have experience in a range of technical disciplines including artificial intelligence, machine learning, the modern data stack, and cloud technologies. They will also help you develop your business acumen across finance, economics, project management, business strategy and transformation.
What You’ll be Doing
- Designing and developing data driven solutions to real world challenges which provide tangible, measurable value to our clients
- Designing and developing fit for purpose data models
- Thinking through complex conceptual scenarios, and developing multiple hypotheses
- Establishing cloud infrastructure solutions
- Integrating data from numerous data sources
- Developing data pipelines for production environments
- Creating enterprise ready data architectures
- Attending client meetings and workshops with executives and senior management
- Documenting system and project requirements
- Assisting in continual improvement of our data practice
About You
We are seeking people who are genuinely curious and enjoy working through complex business and data issues where there is ‘no one correct answer’. Ideally you have a strong work ethic and can work both within a team environment and by yourself.
You must have the technical ability to contribute to the development of an analytics solution. At the same time, you will make a concerted effort to understand why the solution is being developed and the value it creates for the organisation. You understand that sometimes a simple solution provides greater value than a more complex one.
Your skills and experience may include:
- Relevant tertiary qualification, or suitable work experience in lieu of qualifications
- Experience in data engineering and architecture – versatility across roles is highly favoured (position and remuneration dependent on experience)
- Exceptional data modelling capability, including conceptual, logical, and physical modelling
- Strong Python or SQL skills
- Experience in delivering secure, scalable cloud data platforms ranging in complexity (e.g. Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
- Experience with modern data orchestration and transformation tools (e.g. Data Factory, DBT, Airflow, etc.)
- Proven ability to take disparate data sources of varying quality, and integrate them to deliver value as part of productionised data pipelines
- Experience in identifying and developing current, transitional and future-state data architectures
- An understanding of data security, observability, and networking principles and implementation methods
- Experience working in a consulting environment is desirable
