About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join an innovative team within the higher education sector. This role focuses on designing and deploying modern data solutions to uplift research information management, leveraging QUT’s Azure Cloud data and analytics platform. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-impact project starting in January, with the potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end data solutions within the Azure Cloud environment.
  • Build and maintain data integration, ingestion, and aggregation pipelines.
  • Curate data and build models to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Utilise Power BI to create insightful visualisations and self-service reporting tools.

Experience Required:

  • Postgraduate qualifications (or equivalent experience) in computer science or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in data acquisition, integration, and modelling in cloud-based platforms.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and knowledge of database programming for both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Strong data literacy with experience working with large, diverse datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage data pipelines and operationalise data solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Azure training or certification.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 4 months, starting in January 2024.
  • Location: Brisbane.
  • Possibility of Extension: Yes, based on project requirements.
