Job Description

We are looking for a   Lead Data Warehouse Engineer  for our Data Warehouse team in Sydney. Reporting to the GM Technology, you will be providing technical leadership and guidance across engineering for our data warehouse platform. The role is a mix of hands-on (around 20%) and strategic work and will focus on developing our data capabilities across multiple teams.

Additionally, this role will work closely with stakeholders to understand their data requirements and act as a knowledge expert for data warehouse practices.

What you’ll do as a Lead Data Warehouse Engineer:

Establish strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to build data warehousing solutions to assist with strategic outputs Experience in Data strategy, governance and architecture. Lead and develop a team of Data Engineers Drive technical decisions and direction within your team and platforms Own the end to end delivery of your teams’ products/platforms Ensure that the data warehouse solution is a source of truth for all strategic business reporting Enable reporting capabilities for the organisation Significant experience within Information Management, Data Engineering or a related field Experience leading and developing a team in a data or software environment  Depth of understanding in database design, including conceptualisation to database optimization Deep expertise in data structures, data storage, and data architectures. Ability to lead meetings, clearly communicate technical approach, status, assess and mitigate risk. Ability to design and monitor data management controls such as role based access and performance monitoring Excellent understanding of cloud data platforms such as AWS Redshift, CI/CD,SQL,Python would be advantageous.

Qualifications

What you'll need to succeed:

Bachelor’s degree in information management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. Experience in data governance, information management, or a related area. Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and information management practices. Strong experience in modern data practice. Experience architecting, building, and supporting data analytics platforms (DWH, Data Lakes) Strong understanding and experience in cloud computing (AWS). A sense of ownership of projects and improvement of data practices Demonstrated capability to coach and mentor other data engineers within the team Experience with relational and NoSQL databases Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work unsupervised
