About the role

We are excited to announce a pivotal opportunity at Orica for a Senior Underground Engineer/ Digital Specialist to join our esteemed AusPac Digital Solutions team. This position can be based in either Perth or Brisbane. 

This role is critical for introducing technology across Orica’s AusPac region. The candidate will join a high-profile team in Orica’s Digital Solutions group and be part of an exciting program of work designed to broaden and differentiate Orica’s capabilities with new market-leading technologies. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager – AusPac Digital Solutions, the successful candidate needs a customer-first mentality and the ability to deliver a great customer experience. This role will require identifying and managing the implementation of systems, processes, and procedures necessary for the successful commercialisation of BlastIQ™ Underground and future technologies related to underground mining processes. Project management and specific industry professional experience will be required to lead various program initiatives while providing expert consultation in underground production mining processes and workflows.

What you will be doing

  • Identifying and implementing systems, processes, and procedures for the scalable release of new solutions to Orica’s markets across the AusPac region.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to increase customer uptake of underground-focused technologies, working closely with the Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams. 
  • Managing customer engagement from initial technology demonstrations through to implementations and ongoing support.
  • Identifying, managing, supporting, and gathering feedback from early adopters when deploying new underground mining technologies. 
  • Reporting and communicating business status to group stakeholders. 
  • Providing input into the product development roadmap, support models, and emerging technologies.
  • Product stewardship including customer support tickets.
  • Supporting regional marketing initiatives including representation at industry conferences and technology roadshows.
  • Supporting the regional Digital Specialist team.

What you will bring

  • Experience in underground mining, with an understanding of all processes and workflows within the underground mining environment; 
  • Strong technology competency with the ability to manage data, modern software and hardware applications; 
  • Practical and technical underground drill and blast experience’
  • Project management experience; 
  • Customer relationship management experience; 
  • Technical writing and presentation skills; 
  • Office and field-based training and mentoring experience; 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Must be able to travel to remote locations when required, with anticipated travel being 25-50% depending on the opportunity pipeline.
