The Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH) was established 17 years ago and is now Australia’s largest and most advanced network of specialist veterinary hospitals. Our flagship facility in North Ryde is the largest referral hospital in the southern hemisphere. We proudly care for over 45,000 pets and their families annually across our hospitals, which include locations in North Ryde, the Central Coast, Adelaide, Western Sydney, Alexandria and Sunshine Coast with new hospitals opening soon in Northern Beaches and the Gold Coast.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our growing finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager – Accounting & Compliance, this role will play a key part in maintaining transparency of financial data, ensuring compliance with accounting and legal regulations, and preparing accurate financial statements. Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, tax returns, P&L reviews, accruals, and month-end reports.
  • Gather and monitor financial data, analyse financial trends, and facilitate accurate reporting for decision-making.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, internal management reports, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct weekly cash flow reporting to support effective financial planning.
  • Prepare GST, FBT, Payroll, and Corporate Income Tax returns.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end statutory accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial policies, regulations, and accounting standards, including tax laws and reporting requirements.
  • Support audit compliance and internal control responsibilities.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role; experience in a Chartered Accounting firm is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software, with strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Solid technical knowledge of tax and accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Process-driven and detail-oriented with a strong focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Professional accounting qualifications such as CA or CPA are essential.
