About the role


Our Coordinator of Risk Management will be reporting directly to the Manager of Risk and Governance and will make an impactful contribution to the Glen Eira City Council through the delivery of Council’s Risk Management Framework and Policy, continued development of Councils risk maturity, regular reporting to Council’s Governance and Risk Committee and Audit and Risk Committee, and provision of risk management advice.
Additionally, you'll manage our Fraud and Corruption Policy and Procedure and related processes, oversee annual renewal of the insurance portfolio and procurement of brokerage services, and lead our business continuity planning efforts.

Other responsibilities include:

Facilitating the identification and assessment of strategic risks across the organisation. Assisting Business Units in further developing and reviewing operational risk registers. Developing training material and providing training to lift staff awareness in areas of risk management, fraud and corruption and business continuity planning, and promote an anti-fraud and corruption culture. Reviewing and planning insurance coverage to meet Council’s risk profile needs. Providing leadership and ongoing mentoring to the Risk Management Officer. Coordinating Council’s annual business continuity plan review, training and testing workshops. Oversight of the claims management function which includes under-excess claims processed in-house and over-excess claims which are referred to Council’s insurer.

What you will bring
You will bring your previous hands-on experience and utilise your extensive knowledge to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness in risk management practices to elevate Glen Eiras risk maturity and management culture.

The following is also required:

Degree or Diploma in risk management or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience in implementation of risk management frameworks and policy. Experience in implementation of fraud and corruption frameworks would be desirable. Experience in business continuity planning would be desirable. Claims management experience would be desirable. Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.

The interviews will take place between Monday, 17 June 2024 and Monday, 1 July 2024, between 9am and 5pm .
