Fixed Term Part Time Role. 
 

We are seeking a Senior Mental Health Nurse to lead and coordinate a cutting-edge digital health project at Peter Mac. In this pivotal role.

Part Time 32 hours per fortnight fixed term for 1 year 

You will have demonstrated skills in:

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to integrate mental health expertise into the digital health project.
  • Project Coordination: Manage and coordinate the project with key stakeholders, ensuring seamless implementation and alignment with project goals.
  • Patient Triage: Successfully triage and enroll patients into the digital health project group, ensuring appropriate and timely participation
  • Therapeutic Relationships: Build and maintain supportive, therapeutic relationships with patients, enhancing their overall well-being.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Registered Nurse with a current AHPRA registration and a relevant nursing qualification.
  • Experience: Previous work in the c-ordination of clinical projects is desirable, as well as skills in being able to establish and maintain relationships with clinical stakeholders.
  • Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment: A genuine interest in enhancing mental health care and a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Reporting to the head of mental health nursing

Position Summary

The main purpose of this position is to oversee the implementation and evaluation of a digital mental health pathway of care. The project will redesign our model of care to better assess and triage patients and offer if suitable online intereventions
1. Implementing a stepped-care care program that will includes online mental health interventions;
2. Developing referral and treatment pathways; and
3. Evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of the program

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in  mental health nursing
  • Experience in working within a triage model of mental health care delivery for general hospital patients
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to comprehensively and confidently assess risk and escalate through appropriate pathways
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of the MDT and with multiple key stakeholders

Desirable Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mental health issues within the general health and Oncology (consultation-liaison) setting.
  • Understanding and awareness of delivery of theraputic resources through a digital platform

Key Accountabilities Demonstrated by / Key Performance Indicators 1. Project Management

  • Conduct literature reviews and writing of summaries of this project 
  • Assist with ethics submissions and amendments as required.
  • Develop the interventions (self-help resource and CBT intervention for insomnia) and resource materials,
  • Develop/collate the intervention screening and evaluation tools
  • Implement the intervention package (including associated referral pathways)
  • Develop and deliver the  intervention education package for staff
  • Ensure that up-to-date processes are established to identify and appropriately refer patients according to the project plan / protocol.
  • Conduct screening and recruitment of patients into the project

2. Data Collection

  • Undertake data collection
  • Engage in regular auditing of data to reveal adherence to study protocols, completeness of data sets and safe storage of data
  • Liaise with statistician for data analysis
  • Report in a timely manner all project data as per the project plan

3.Relationship Management

  •  Engage key internal and external stakeholders internally and externally
  • Coordinate project steering group meetings
  • Co-ordinate and implement the communication strategy plan (e.g. presentations to senior staff about the project, driving newsletter updates, promotion of project, feedback to tumor streams, journal club presentations)
  • Ensure patient records are completed on the same day of appointment
  • Work effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team
