About the Operations Team

Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.

The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.

 About the Opportunity

ARTC Seeks Project Team Leader – Track Reconditioning & Geotech (Newcastle) to Keep Our Network Running Smoothly

Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring critical rail infrastructure projects are delivered on time and budget?

As part of ARTC's Hunter Valley Track Reconditioning & Geotech Team, you will effectively and efficiently manage the ongoing delivery of project activities contained in the Annual Maintenance Plan to ensure the operational integrity and efficiency of the Corridor Works program.

The team generally work standard hours Monday to Friday, this will increase during shutdowns and time-sensitive periods. There will also be occasions where travel is required within the Hunter Valley and Central North-West regions.

In this key role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Leading and supervising project activities for the Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP).
  • Assisting Project Managers in scoping, costing, and planning maintenance projects.
  • Monitoring project performance and resolving safety, contractual, and delivery issues.
  • Reporting project progress and performance to Project Managers.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment for your team and contractors.
  • Contributing to continuous improvements in maintenance and work processes.

What do we want from you?

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Experience in engineering maintenance, construction or project management of track, civil and/or structures.
  • Experience in the administration and management in the delivery of major periodic maintenance and capital works projects.
  • Demonstratable ability to work in an organised and well-ordered manner.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills.
  • Drivers Licence – Class C.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent qualifications, preferred but not essential.
  • Project management and supervisory experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Highly developed commercial acumen.
  • Sound knowledge of;
    • Railway systems.
    • Australian Standards for track infrastructure including the railway National Code of Practice.
