Randstad Digital Australia is currently seeking a talented and motivated Systems Analyst to join one of our prestigious government clients on an initial 6-month contract. This is a semi-technical role, where you will primarily focus on writing interface specifications and performing various testing tasks. Key Responsibilities:

As a Systems Analyst, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Specification Writing
    You will be responsible for drafting clear, concise, and comprehensive interface specifications that will be used as a foundation for development teams. This involves understanding user requirements, technical constraints, and ensuring alignment across all teams.
  • Domain Modelling (SQL)
    A strong grasp of domain modelling is required, using SQL to effectively represent and interact with data. You'll work with databases to ensure seamless integration and proper alignment of system functionality.
  • Basic Understanding of XML and JSON
    You'll need to demonstrate a basic understanding of XML and JSON, including their structure and usage in data exchange between systems. This knowledge is essential for defining and handling data interfaces.
  • Understanding of Different System Integration Methods
    You will have a solid understanding of various system integration methods, such as:
    • Flat File Transfer: Designing and implementing file-based integrations.
    • API: Understanding the role of APIs in system communication and integration.
  • Familiarity with Tools Like SOAPUI/Postman
    Experience with tools such as SOAPUI and Postman is crucial for testing and validating APIs and web services. These tools will help you ensure interfaces are functioning as expected.
  • Documentation of Interface Requirements
    You'll document interface requirements at a level where development teams can immediately begin their work. This documentation will be a key deliverable, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Cyber Keys
    Awareness of security standards, particularly around the management and use of cyber keys, to ensure secure system access and data handling.
  • Scripting – Analytical Skills
    You will use scripting skills to analyze and manipulate data, supporting the testing process and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Test Approaches and Test Execution
    You will help define and execute test plans, ensuring interfaces and integrations are tested thoroughly before deployment. This includes functional, integration, and regression testing.
  • Problem Solving – Creative Mode
    The role requires you to think creatively and offer solutions to complex integration issues. You’ll need to approach problems with an open mind and innovative thinking.
  • Problem Identification – Find and Fix Mode
    As an effective problem solver, you will identify system issues, debug, and provide actionable fixes, ensuring smooth operation and integration across various systems.
  • Attention to Detail
    Your keen attention to detail will ensure that all interfaces, documentation, and testing processes are accurate and complete.
  • Confidence to Speak to External Teams and Agencies
    Strong communication skills will be essential as you liaise with external teams, vendors, and agencies, ensuring alignment and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Systems Analyst or in a similar role
  • Proficiency in SQL, domain modelling, and system integration methods (Flat File, API)
  • Familiarity with XML, JSON, SOAPUI, Postman, and other relevant tools
  • Experience with documentation and testing
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with external teams
