  • Court Appearances & Advocacy: Represent clients in various jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court, Magistrates/District Courts, and the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT). You will appear at hearings, trials, and mediations, advocating effectively on behalf of clients.

  • Building & Construction Disputes: Act as a subject matter expert in building and construction litigation, particularly in relation to the Security of Payments Act (SOPA). You'll work on both back-end disputes and, where applicable, front-end matters to support clients' business objectives within the construction sector.

  • Property & Leasing Disputes: Engage in disputes involving property and leasing, advising clients on contentious matters related to property transactions, commercial leases, landlord-tenant disputes, and other real estate-related conflicts.

  • Team Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with and provide mentorship to junior solicitors and paralegals within the team, fostering a supportive learning environment.

This role is designed for a high-performing litigator who is ready to take on significant responsibility within a dynamic and supportive team. You will be empowered to make an impact, advocate for clients effectively, and build a rewarding career within our client's award-winning practice.

  • Specialisation: Strong experience in Building & Construction litigation (back-end, though both front and back-end experience is advantageous).
  • Essential Skills: Expertise in SOPA (Security of Payments Act) is a must.
  • Additional Skills: Property experience is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Professional Competencies: Exceptional drafting and communication skills. Ability to engage and build strong client relationships and support the lead Partner in building the practice.
