Competitive public school pay and conditions. Incremental salary progression, starting from $86,253 for new educators and $102,969 to $121,077 for experienced educators, rewarding you for your expertise and dedication to teaching. Up to $12K relocation reimbursement is offered for interstate/international teachers.The ACT Education Directorate seeks graduate teachers for Primary or Secondary roles across a wide range of schools in permanent or contract positions.

In ACT public schools, you can use your expertise as a classroom teacher in our preschool to year 6 primary schools or expand your career in a larger preschool to year 10 schools to teach in a middle-school classroom setting and in colleges teaching years 11 and 12.
As a graduate teacher, you will be supported to succeed in your early teaching career and our three-year helps new educators transition from a graduate to a proficient teacher. This program includes:

You have relevant and recognised tertiary qualifications. Have a passion for teaching and education and support a student-centred approach to learning. Have the ability to teach across a broad age and ability range. Demonstrate knowledge and successful application of the Australian Curriculum. Have positive classroom management skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Proven experience establishing and fostering relationships with students, staff and parents/carers. Eligibility requirements for employment
To be eligible to be employed as a teacher in an ACT public school, you must have:
Education qualifications – An approved four-year full-time tertiary teaching qualification or two-year masters teaching qualification. Applicants with qualifications gained outside of Australia should complete a skills assessment by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) to confirm qualification requirements and English language proficiency to teach in Australian schools. Detailed information is available from the . Teacher registration – A valid approval to teach with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI). If you do not hold a teacher registration with the ACT TQI, we suggest starting your at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity. Teachers holding registration in another Australian state or territory or New Zealand are eligible for mutual recognition. Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration – A valid ACT WWVP.
