AOD Support Worker

Orange, Australia Lives Lived Well Full time

Wyla Residential Services provides a safe environment for people to withdraw from alcohol and/or other drugs and offers a live-in rehabilitation service for those who have completed a detox program.

We are looking for casual AOD Support Workers to join our medium-sized team at the Bloomfield Hospital Campus just outside Orange.

The AOD Support Worker role includes assisting with group sessions, taking clients to appointments, supervising self-administration of medication, and maintaining client records. Lives Lived Well is one of the only AOD support services in regional NSW, so you’ll gain a broad knowledge base of the sector – this role is ideal for people transitioning from other community service areas.

These casual positions will include a mixture of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts. Overnight shifts can be either standing, or sleepover, and all will be supported by an on-site Registered Nurse.
The role pays between gross $36.00 to $38.60 per hour + casual loading + super.

Although this is not an identified role, we welcome applications from those with a Lived Experience of Drug and Alcohol recovery.

Your Opportunity

You don’t need to hold a qualification for this role, but you do need to be motivated, committed, and have a genuine interest in working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector.

Your skills and attributes will include:

  • Being an excellent communicator – you’ll feel comfortable engaging with a range of people from different walks of life, in a non-judgemental and supportive way
  • A friendly, open, and positive attitude – building relationships to support clients, and providing them with a positive role-model, will be a big part of your role
  • Emotional maturity and a calm demeanour, especially in high-pressure or conflict situations
  • Working within professional boundaries with a solid understanding of how to practice these with clients and colleagues
  • You’ll self-care – this role can be challenging and it’s important to us that you are at your best, to do your best
  • Being engaged and comfortable with change – we welcome ideas and suggestions for improvement
  • Strong computer skills, experience with client note-taking and an understanding of how handovers work.

You will need to hold a current Working with Children Check and a current Australian Drivers Licence. AOD First Aid or other AOD qualifications would be highly regarded.

Most importantly, you’ll live and breathe our values, which means:

  • You are humble, human, and full of hope
  • You show up and share
  • You ask: Why not? And what’s next?
  • You leave a positive wake

Benefits of Working with Us

At Wyla, our team of 30 is friendly and welcoming. We work together to provide clients with the best recovery process possible. Our Team Leader has an open and honest approach – she provides support as required but encourages autonomy and accountability too. You’ll also enjoy:

  • Flexibility in your work day with multiple shifts on offer
  • Penalty rates on top of casual loading for applicable shifts
  • World class training and opportunities for professional development
  • One-to-one and team meetings monthly, to ensure inclusivity and collaboration
  • An EAP to support you and your family with wellbeing services

Lives Lived Well offer a huge range of benefits and you can find them all on our website.
